Rob is the Director of Tintenbar Medical Centre in Northern NSW. Rob grew up in rural NSW and after completing medical school at the University of Sydney (based at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Clinical School) he worked in intensive care units in both regional and urban settings. Rob then became a general practitioner with a subspecialty interest in community palliative care.

In 2015, while working as a medical officer for the Northern NSW Health District Community Palliative Care Service, he completed his Clinical Diploma of Palliative Medicine through the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Rob is an advocate for optimising community palliative care through clinical education.

His current positions include Senior Medical Educator for GP Synergy, Senior Lecturer for the University of Queensland, and National Examiner for the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. His previous translational research involvement has included evaluating models of palliative care service delivery in rural and regional areas of Australia.
